Friday, July 09, 2021 6:00pm The John Baboian Ensemble featuring Sandi Bedrosian is an all-faculty band from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It includes guitars, trumpet/flute, vibes, bass and drums. While rooted in the “Bop” tradition, the band plays a variety of materials that reflect the long history of Jazz music. Since its beginning in 1990, the ensemble has garnered a steady following of fans that enjoy guitar-oriented Jazz, and recorded several CDs.

Friday, July 16, 2021 6:00pm The Early Risers are a folk duo from Vermont made up of Ashley Storrow and Putnam Smith. Both rootsy and lyric-driven, their original songs feature close vocal harmonies and arrangements on a wide array of instruments: banjo, guitar, mandolin, piano, and shruti-box. After pursuing separate solo singer/songwriter careers, they joined forces in 2015 and have since toured across the country, from Maine to Texas to California to Vancouver, BC. They have played notable venues such as Club Passim, the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and the High Plains Public Radio concert series. Their debut album, “Making Life Sweet” climbed to #1 on the Folk DJ Charts (November, 2019), with 4 songs in the top 10 most played songs. As said by the folk music blog, Wise Madness: “…it’s how the band makes you feel. Their music is comfort food.”

The musicians play current and traditional instruments including the oud, classical and rhythm guitars, keyboard, clarinet and saxophone as well as the doumbek – the most commonly played percussive instrument throughout Middle eastern cultures. The result is a dynamic synergy of melodies and rhythms.

Friday, July 30, 2021 6:00pm The Goddesses play mainly songs from the 50’s and songs from the 70’s that sound like they are from the 50’s: 50’s artists like The Coasters, Chuck Berry, Huey “Piano” Smith, Buddy Holly; 70’s artists like Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, NRBQ, The Dwight Twilley Band, etc. Sam Goddess sings,, Tony Goddess sings and play guitar. Dave Sag plays bass, he’s a veteran of a million local gigs, member of Madhouse, etc. John Cameron plays piano and is well known as a member of the Boston ska band Bim Skala Bim. Steve Chaggaris plays the drums and like Sag is a local club scene vet, member of Orville Giddings Band, etc.
