The Headlands

Friday, July 12th, 2024, 6:00pm, with food service by Markouk Bread

Tonight's Concert Tonight's concert with The Headlands will be inside the Meetinghouse. We’ve set up the Church’s downstairs social hall like a coffee house with low lighting plus plenty of tables and chairs because the Green is still not ready for outdoor concerts.

With their exciting three-part vocals that put their stamp on whichever musical genre they choose, HEADLANDS has been playing at clubs, restaurants, outdoor festivals and private events since 2017. Whether an acoustic trio or a full-blown rock band with percussion, fiddle and horns, you can be sure HEADLANDS treat their audiences to thrilling harmonies, tight arrangements, and humor!

Tonight’s non-profit organization

In the spirit of giving back to the community each concert is partnered with a Cape Ann non-profit organization. The public is invited to make a free-will donation (So if you can, please bring cash/check.) This week's organization is Backyard Growers.

About Backyard Growers

Reshaping Gloucester's relationship with food. Backyard Growers began in 2010 as a program of the Cape Ann Farmers’ Market as part of their mission to connect residents with healthy food. With support from The Food Project, they provided backyard gardens to families in downtown neighbors. The program grew quickly to include new backyard gardens in community gardens, and school gardens, becoming its own organization in 2013.

Backyard Growers today is helping to reshape Gloucester's relationship with food. They provide resources and support to establish vegetable gardens at homes, housing communities, organizations, and schools. They are successfully creating life-long gardeners inspired to grow food.

The GMF Annual Fund is dedicated to raising the resources that are necessary to run the organization.  In 2026 the Meetinghouse will reach 220 years in service to Cape Ann, a miraculous survivor and centerpiece of the Historic District.  Our successful and ongoing mission is to preserve it as a cultural venue, civic hub and community gathering center.

We are mostly volunteers but our paid executive assistant, Ashley Shedd, provides invaluable and efficient office support.  We also incur significant costs for building use, graphics, web hosting, marketing, advertising and other essential services.  This year we will be hiring additional professional staff for enhanced program growth, grant-writing, development, and planning for the upcoming Capital Campaign.

Your generous contributions to the Annual Fund are central to facilitating our vision for a completely renovated and updated Meetinghouse, complementary to the new Sawyer Free Library and expanded Cape Ann Museum – an incomparable resource capable of hosting as many as 500 participants for community-focused forums, events and performances.

Delivering on our great aspirations depends upon you.
