April 2021 (date tbd)
In a second annual partnership event, the Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation and Temple Ahavat Achim will present a Yom HaShoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day program. The program will include the world premiere of a new work for strings, piano, clarinet, and vocalists, The Grip of Evil: The Endurance of Hope, by American composer Leslie Steinweiss, commissioned for the occasion. Music for solo clarinet by Stephen Bates, a performance of Gideon Klein’s String Trio by the Radlberger Ensemble, a reading by Holocaust Legacy Fellow Gillian Pergament, and related stories by storyteller Judith Black, will complete the program.
A Kosher brunch will be offered at Temple Ahavat Achim prior to the concert. Following the brunch, participants will walk together to the Gloucester Meetinghouse at the corner of Middle and Church Streets. Event details subject to change.
Address: Gloucester UU Church — 10 Church Street, Gloucester, MA 01930
Do you love our programs at the Meetinghouse? Would you like to support our summer concert series in support of worthy local non-profits as a Sponsor? Last year we raised over $18K in free will donations while featuring great local musical groups and offering delicious food from local vendors. We call it doing good while having fun! All the proceeds go to our partner non-profits, so we rely entirely upon Sponsors like you to pay the expenses. Being a Sponsor is a great way to support your community and to have your name or business listed on all of our posters, season cards, and online publicity.
